For outdoor sketching and painting, watercolor pencils are perfect! Begin by making your sketches using dry pencils on dry paper. Then apply a light wash of water with a brush and transform the drawing into a watercolor painting. Layers of dry color can be applied on the paper and blended with water. When the wash is dry, add more pencil to create more intense colors. You may also work the pencils directly onto damp paper, a technique which gives soft lines and strong color. |
