This envelope was made out of handmade paper. The student who created this envelope tore up a whole bunch of small pieces of thin colored papers...red and blue, beige and pink. She followed papermaking instructions to make a sheet of paper out of all these small, torn pieces. Then she cut and folded her handmade paper into a beautiful envelope. Wouldn't you love to get a piece of mail like this one?

Handmade papers and be fragile...they are soft and tend to tear easily. To protect the beautiful paper, make it stonger, and give it a nice, shiny finish, you can brush on a final coat of Acrylic Varnish...a valuable art material to use with all sorts of kids' art projects.
