A collage is a work of art created by gluing bits of paper, fabric, scraps, photographs or other maerials onto a flat surface. This wonderful collage is also a portrait...a picture of someone's face. it was sent to our KidsArt gallery by an art teacher, and we are delighted to show you this fine work. The young artist painted sheets of paper with tempera to get the different colors...browns for the hair, beige tones for the skin, blues for the background. Then they cut and tore the paper into small pieces, and glued these together like a puzzle to make the face. Some of the shapes are cut with smooth edges...the eyes, the lips. But most of the paper bits have soft, torn edges.
